The use of platinum over gold is a hallmark of early 20th-century European jewelry, allowing diamonds to be set in a white metal for maximum light return while retaining the warmth and durability of a gold shank. Fine milgrain detailing, bead-set diamonds, and a pierced undergallery reflect the light, airy aesthetic favored during the Edwardian era.
The ring shows evidence of having been sized up at some point in its history, consistent with age, and remains structurally sound and wearable. One of the smaller diamonds has been replaced with a round brilliant cut, a common period repair that has been clearly disclosed.
