A dramatic mid-century French brooch, its high-domed surface divided into individual segments, each bead-set with old mine cut diamonds in a radiating, quilted lattice reminiscent of a pinecone or artichoke motif — the kind of sculptural bombé treatment favored by French jewelers of the 1950s. The diamonds, near-colorless G color old mine cuts totaling approximately 3.50 carats, are notably older in cut than the setting itself, suggesting they were drawn from an earlier heirloom piece and custom-reset by a French jeweler into this fashionable new mounting. Struck with the French eagle head hallmark for 18k gold, and fitted with its original pin mechanism as well as two integrated hoops, allowing it to be worn as a brooch or suspended as a pendant. A rare, sculptural survivor that bridges two eras of design in a single piece.
