An oval black opal sits at the center of this platinum ring. Its dark body shows green and blue with flashes of orange and violet, and the colors shift as the hand moves. Four claw prongs hold the stone and leave it open to view from every angle.

Each shoulder has a tapered diamond baguette with a round brilliant above and below it. The clean geometry of the diamonds sets off the opal's painterly color. The stone weights are stamped inside the shank next to the Pm900 platinum mark, a hallmark convention of Japanese fine jewelry.

Under the setting, an open scrollwork gallery adds handcrafted detail that mostly only the wearer will notice. The shank combines a satin finish with high-polish edges, so the ring has a soft, refined glow.
