A gold devotional medal of the Virgin in profile sits at the center of this Art Deco pendant, framed by the words "Rosa Mystica," the Marian title of the Mystical Rose. The matte relief is finely modeled, from the soft folds of the veil to the embroidered neckline.
The platinum-topped frame is pure period work. Rose cut diamonds and French cut sapphires are set in openwork geometry edged in millegrain, and the platinum-topped bail carries diamonds of its own.
The reverse is engraved "1906 – 29 Agosto – 1931," marking a twenty-five-year span, most likely an anniversary. The 1931 date sits squarely in the Art Deco period, and the frame's style is consistent with it. The Rosa Mystica pendant is a personal, dated piece of Art Deco devotional jewelry.
